A mobile vehicular antenna for use in accessing stationary geosynchronous and/or geostable satellites. A multi-turn quadrifilar helix antenna (300) is fed in phase rotation at its base and is provided with a pitch and/or diameter adjustment (322) for the helix elements (304) causing beam scanning in the elevation plane while remaining relatively omni-directional in azimuth. The antenna diameter and helical pitch are optimized to reduce the frequency scanning effect. A technique is provided for aiming the antenna to compensate for any remaining frequency scanning effect.

L'invention est une antenne pour véhicule automobile qui est utilisée pour avoir accès à des satellites stationnaires géosynchrones et/ou géostables. Une antenne hélicoïdale quadrifilaire multispire (300) est alimentée en rotation de phase par la base et est dotée d'un dispositif d'ajustement du pas et/ou du diamètre (322) pour les éléments hélicoïdaux (304) qui déplace le faisceau dans le plan vertical tout en maintenant la couverture pratiquement équidirective dans le plan horizontal. Le diamètre de l'antenne et le pas de l'hélice sont optimisés afin de réduire les effets associés aux variations de fréquence. Une méthode d'orientation de l'antenne pour corriger les effets résiduels de cette nature est divulguée.
