ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The device in question is a two-leaf deflector flap fitted at the bottom rear end of a wheel housing, seen relative to the direction of travel. It extends essentially over the entire width of the wheel housing and one of its leaves extends almost all the way up to the tread surface of the wheel rotating in the wheel housing, leaving a gap between itself and the tread surface, and the second leaf extends downwards from the pivot axis towards the roadway. The gap between the deflector flap and the tread surface of the wheel rotating in the wheel housing is adjustable and the flap can be allowed to pivot freely within certain predetermined limits around its pivot axis in the wheel housing, and it is held by gravity in its operating position.
