2124449 9310656 PCTABS00022 A mulching mower has at least one generally enclosed cutting chamber (4) in which a rotatable cutting blade (6) is carried for rotation in a generally horizontal cutting plane. The side wall (14) which defines the circumferential boundary of the cutting chamber (4) is not perfectly circular with respect to the axis (16) of blade (6) rotation. Instead, the chamber (4) is stretched or elongated with respect to the blade tips (9) over the rear half of the chamber (4) to be obround to the rear of the chamber (4). This enhances use of the mower as a mulcher. In addition, grass deflecting members (20) are desirably used in the rear half of the chamber (4) to further enhance the mulching action provided by the chamber (4).

L'invention porte sur une tondeuse déchiqueteuse comprenant au moins une chambre de coupe (4) généralement fermée dans laquelle est montée une lame de coupe rotative (6) pouvant tourner sur un plan de coupe généralement horizontal.
