A device for inserting an intraocular lens (IOL) into an eye includes a tubular body member with an inner surface and a plunger with an gripping device that is receivable within the body member. The gripping device includes a locking member and is configured such that when urged longitudinally in a distal direction, the gripping device is movable in the distal direction within the body member. However, when urged longitudinally in a proximal direction, the gripping device is prevented from moving in the proximal direction by the locking member engaging with the inner surface of the body member. As such, inadvertent movement of the plunger in the proximal direction caused by pulling back on the plunger is substantially prevented. If proximal movement of the plunger is desired, then the plunger may include handle that is operatively coupled to the gripping device such rotation of the handle causes the handle to move longitudinally in the body member. Accordingly, the plunger may be advanced or moved distally by longitudinally pushing the handle and/or by rotating the handle.
L'invention concerne un dispositif qui permet d'introduire une lentille intraoculaire (LIO) dans l'oeil. Ce dispositif comprend un élément corps tubulaire pourvu d'une surface intérieure et d'un piston équipé d'un dispositif de préhension se plaçant dans l'élément corps. Le dispositif de préhension, qui comprend un élément de verrouillage, est configuré de sorte que, une fois poussé longitudinalement dans une direction distale, celui-ci avance dans la direction distale à l'intérieur de l'élément corps. Cependant, lorsqu'il est poussé longitudinalement dans une direction proximale, le déplacement du dispositif de préhension dans la direction proximale est empêché par l'élément de verrouillage qui vient alors en contact avec la surface intérieure de l'élément corps. Le risque de déplacement involontaire du piston dans la direction proximale du fait de son retrait est ainsi sensiblement empêché. Lorsque le déplacement proximale du piston est souhaité, celui-ci peut être assorti d'une poignée couplée fonctionnelle au dispositif de préhension. La rotation de la poignée entraîne son propre déplacement à l'intérieur de l'élément corps. De plus, la poussée longitudinale de la poignée et/ou la rotation de la poignée peut entraîner la progression ou le déplacement distal du piston.
