A multicolor image forming material for recording an image by superposing at least four kinds of thermal transfer sheets of different colors having at least a photothermal conversion layer and an image forming layer both formed over a support on an image forming sheet having an image forming layer in such a way that the image forming layer of each photothermal conversion layer is opposed to the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet, irradiating the sheets with a laser beam, and thereby transferring the image in the laser beam-irradiated area of the image forming layer onto the image receiving layer of the image receiving sheet. The multicolor image forming material is characterized by comprising a thermal transfer sheet (X) having an image forming layer containing a pigment selected from Pigment Red 48:1, Pigment Red 48:3, Pigment Green 7, Pigment Blue 15:6, Pigment Blue 60, Pigment Violet 23, and Pigment Orange 43. A multicolor image forming method using such a material is also disclosed. A multicolor image the range of the reproducible hue of which is extended can be provided.
L'invention porte sur un matériau de formation d'images permettant d'enregistrer une image en superposant au moins quatre sortes de feuilles de transfert thermique de couleur différente présentant au moins une couche de conversion photothermique et une couche de formation d'image toutes deux formées sur un support disposé sur une feuille de formation d'image comportant une couche de formation d'image de manière à ce que la couche de formation d'image de chacune des couches de conversion photothermique soit opposée à la couche réceptrice d'image de la feuille réceptrice d'image. On irradie ensuite les feuilles par un faisceau laser pour transférer l'image de la zone irradiée de la couche de formation d'image sur la couche réceptrice d'image de la feuille réceptrice d'image. Le susdit matériau consiste en feuilles de transfert thermique (X) présentant une couche de formation d'image, contenant un pigment choisi parmi: Rouge 48:1, Rouge 48:3, Vert: 7, Bleu 15:6, Bleu 60, Violet 23, et Orange 43. L'invention porte également un procédé de formation d'une image à l'aide dudit matériau permettant d'obtenir une image offrant une gamme étendue de teintes reproductibles.
