A tool (10) for manufacturing a multi-colored plastic automotive part (12), such as a door panel, is manufactured using multiple molding shots without opening the mold between each shot. The door panel comes out finished with no scuffing, warping, or shrinkage. The process for manufacturing the panel includes selectively locating spacers (32) within the tool to a first position and then injecting a first material. The parting line is held closed while the spacers (32) are then advanced to a second position so as to set the inner insert to a desired second shot wall thickness position. A second shot of material is then introduced into the rear of the injection unit through an opening in the first shot part. The process can be repeated for additional colors and materials to create a multi-colored or even multi-material final assembly. Once the part (12) is cured, it is ejected and the process is complete.
Outil destiné à la fabrication d'une pièce en matière plastique multicolore pour automobiles, telle qu'un panneau de porte, comprenant l'utilisation d'une pluralité de charges d'injection sans ouverture du moule entre chaque charge. Le panneau fini qui en résulte ne présente ni abrasions, ni gauchissement, ni retrait. Le procédé de fabrication du panneau consiste à placer sélectivement des séparateurs dans une première position dans l'outil et à injecter une première matière. La ligne de joint est maintenue en position fermée tandis que les séparateurs sont déplacés vers une deuxième position afin de placer la pièce rapportée interne en une position conforme à l'épaisseur de paroi de deuxième charge souhaitée. Une deuxième charge de matière est alors introduite dans la partie arrière du module d'injection par une ouverture ménagée dans la partie destinée à la première charge. Ce processus peut être répété pour des couleurs et des matières supplémentaires afin de produire un ensemble final multicolore ou même multi-matières. Une fois la pièce durcie, elle est éjectée, complétant ainsi le processus.
