ROOFING MATERIAL PRODUCTION METHOD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement in the method of producing composition asphalt roofing material wherein the surfacing roll, which is used to force the granules of rock into asphalt impregnated and coated felt, has sections therealong of different diameters, e.g., two diameters such that the portion of the felt bearing granules that contacts the larger diameter sections of the surfacing roll has larger amounts of granules embedded therein, and that portion of the granule bearing felt that contacts the smaller diameter sections have less amounts of granules em- bedded therein.
