A fiber optic receptacle and plug assembly adapted to be mounted within an opening through a wall of a connection terminal. The receptacle and plug define complimentary alignment and keying features for ensuring that the plug is mated with the receptacle in a predetermined orientation. An alignment sleeve is disposed within the plug for receiving a multi-fiber receptacle ferrule and a multi-fiber plug ferrule. The fiber optic receptacle and corresponding plug each include a biasing member assembly for urging the receptacle ferrule and the plug ferrule towards one another, wherein the biasing member assembly includes a round spring, a spring centering cuff and a ferrule boot that operatively engage the rear of the receptacle ferrule and the plug ferrule, respectively, to substantially center a spring biasing force on the end face of the receptacle ferrule and the plug ferrule.

La présente invention concerne un ensemble prise et fiche de fibre optique adapté à un montage dans un orifice d~une paroi d~une borne de connexion. L~ensemble prise et fiche présente des caractéristiques supplémentaires d~alignement et de clavetage qui permettent de connecter la fiche à la prise avec une orientation prédéterminée. Un manchon d~alignement est disposé dans la prise pour recevoir une ferrule de prise multifibre et une ferrule de fiche multifibre. La prise de fibre optique et la fiche correspondante comprennent chacune un organe de sollicitation pour entraîner les deux ferrules l~une vers l~autre, ledit organe comprenant un ressort circulaire, un manchon de centrage de ressort et une gaine de ferrule qui couplent de manière fonctionnelle l~arrière de la ferrule de prise et la ferrule de fiche pour centrer sensiblement une force de sollicitation de ressort sur la face d~extrémité des deux ferrules.
