Abstract Lining systems for a waste containment landfill enclosure and its cover have a geomembrane in contact with a geonet and a geonet in contact with a geotextile. The geomembranes and the geonets have some of their contacting surfaces firmly retaining projecting particles of grit which have been engaged in the plastics material when the respective surface of the plastics material has been softened or melted. Gritted geogrids are laid over the lining systems and secured in position.
