The present invention is a unique multi-leaf rotating sign mechanism which incorporates a simplified multi-part drive shaft mechanism for rotating the leafs. The drive shaft directly engages a system of pins and flats on the end of each leaf to produce an intermittent rotation of the leafs so as to expose the desired messages placed on the flats of the leafs in a step-wise fashion. The drive shaft also provides a feature to prevent turning of the leafs during the non-rotational portion of the sign's cycle.
