A multi-media presentation system is disclosed for coordinating access to multi-media presentation data and related information. The multi-media presentation data typically includes text, image data and layout data. The related information is stored in an item header file, as well as in a number of records. The system includes a network of computers including computers dedicated to performing certain tasks related to obtaining multi-media presentation data and such related information. To coordinate the multi-media presentation process, the ability to modify content contained in an item file is limited while certain of the records that includes useful information related to the same item file are separately available for other network staff members. The system also generates watch records to notify staff members of the current status of, availability of, or to provide other information related to, a multi-media object of interest.
La présente invention concerne un système de présentation multimédia servant à coordonner les accès aux données de présentation multimédia et des informations connexes. Les données de présentation multimédia sont normalement du texte, des données image et des données de mise en page. Les informations connexes sont stockées dans un fichier à en-tête de références, ainsi que dans un certain nombre d'articles. Le système comporte un réseau d'ordinateurs rassemblant des ordinateurs spécialisés dans l'exécution de certaines tâches se rapportant à la collecte de données de présentation multimédia et autres données connexes. Pour coordonner le processus de présentation multimédia, on limite la possibilité de modifier les contenus dans un fichier de références, alors que certains des articles qui comportent des informations utiles se rapportant au même fichier de références sont disponibles séparément à d'autres membres du personnel du réseau. Le système génère également des articles de surveillance signalant aux membres du personnel l'état courant ou la disponibilité de l'objet multimédia considéré, ou fournissant d'autres informations se rapportant à l'objet multimédia considéré.
