ABSTRACT There is described a tool for use in a testing string disposed in a well bore. The tool comprises a tubular housing defining a longitudinal tool bore; a valve including a tool bore closure valve disposed in the housing; an operating device, including a mandrel, adapted to selectively open and close the tool bore closure valve in response to sequential changes in pressure proximate the tool in the well bore; and a ratchet associated with the mandrel for controlling the selective opening and closure of the tool bore closure pursuant to a program.
