A multi-position, multi-directional switch mechanism that provides switch actuation in multiple directions using opposing detent mechanisms (32 and 42). The multi-position, multi-directional switch mechanism has a sleeve (30) that pivots within a base (12) and an operator (70) that pivots within the sleeve (30). Each of the pivoting members (30 and 70) has a detent mechanism (32 and 42) to maintain the pivotal members (30 and 70) in a selected position. The spring loaded detents (36 and 46) of the detent mechanisms (32 and 42) are linearly opposing. The resulting multi-position, multi-directional switch mechanism achieves better functionality with fewer parts.

L'invention concerne un mécanisme de commutation à directions et positions multiples permettant une commutation dans plusieurs directions grâce à des mécanismes (32 et 42) de détente opposés. Le mécanisme de commutation à directions et positions multiples comprend un manchon (30) pivotant à l'intérieur d'une base (12) et un organe d'actionnement (70) pivotant à l'intérieur du manchon (30).
