ABSTRACT A multi-purpose communication card which includes a microphone for converting sound to electrical signals, a voice processor coupled to the microphone operative to digitize the electrical signals therefrom and to convert digital voice data into analog form, digital memory coupled to the voice processor for storing digitized electrical signals from the voice processor, a control circuit coupled to the voice processor and a digital memory, the control circuit being operative in response to control signals to record voice data in digital form in the memory and to transfer data from the memory into the voice processor where it is changed into analog form, a converter for converting the analog signals into audible sound and a selection circuit coupled to the control device and to the processor operative in response to user input to generate control signals for the control circuit and the processor.
