It is disclosed a household multi-purpose cooking appliance that can function in a barbecue mode, in an oven mode and in a fryer/boiler mode. The appliance comprises a cooking chamber (12) with a top aperture closed by a lid (14) associated to a heating element (16) and an insulating cover (18). The cooking chamber can contain a lower heating element (9; 48) for use in the oven or fryer cooking mode. A pan (50) is inserted in the cooking chamber (12) in the fryer mode.
