ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A crampon or creeper attachment (10) for hiking shoes or boots having identical separate sole and heel toothed plates (16,18) and are adjustably intercon- nected by a flexible sole strap (52) to fit the foot- gear. The sole plate (16) includes means (20) for adjustably attaching it to the toe portion of the shoe; the heel plate (18) includes a short heel strap (50) and strap-like means (28) which interconnect with a strap lying across the wearer's instep (40). The interconnecting and securing straps are formed from a rugged material such as a neoprene and nylon laminate and are provided with adjustment means for keyhole slots (32, 56) in the straps and headed rivets (26, 54) secured to the heel and sole plates.
