An adapter for attachment to the shank of a cultivator includes a first portion for attachment to the bottom end of the shank, a second portion for attachment to a sweep or to a pair of wings and a third forward triangular portion for receiving a deep banding point. The adapter can thus be used with deep banding point, with the deep banding point in conjunction with wings or with a sweep after the point and wings have been removed. A material delivery tube is welded directly to a rear surface of the second portion with that rear surface being inclined upwardly and rearwardly toward the shank so as to hold the material delivery duct at a required position for dispensing the material behind the point or behind the sweep.
