Abstract The invention is called, "Multi Room Telephone Transmitter". It allows the user to monitor a remote area, or several rooms in a building via the telephone line. It incorporate means for switching from one monitored room to the next, from the calling telephone. Specification Room monitors, or infinity transmitters as they are often called have been available to the public since the nineteen sixties. The only Canadian Patent, number 766,330 for an infinity transmitter was issued to a German designer on the 29/8/67, it enables a home owner, for example, to monitor his or her home from any where in the city, province, or globe through direct dialling. There are various electronic designs of infinity transmitters but their main function is the same, that is, to transmit audio from a monitored space, or room, via the telephone line, to the caller. A basic room monitor can be constructed with a ring detector, a timer, and a audio amplifier. The ring detector triggers the timer as soon as it detects the first ring signal. The timer activates an associate circuit to simulate an off hook condition. The audio amplifier then transmits audio from the monitored area to the telephone line. When the timer's time limit expires, (which could be a few seconds, or minutes) the monitor is deactivated, and the telephone line is restored to an on hook status. This type of monitor has several undesirable features in its design. It is activated by all telephone calls; determines the monitoring time limit; prone to false triggering, and like all other monitors on the market is only suitable for one room monitoring. There are other versions of one room transmitters that may have the following improvements in their design: (1) The ring detector amy be configured to be activated after several ring signals. This is desirable for the benefit of line connected devices such as call display, which require at least one ring signal before they can perform their function. (2) An access code may be required to activate the monitor. (3) After the access code has been decoded, a timer may be activated to control the monitoring time limit. Or preferably a latch circuit may be activated which will allow the caller to listen to the monitored area indefinitely. Deactivation occurs when the caller enters the off digit or replace the telephone receiver on hook.
