An automotive component and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. For example, the component comprises a firewall (10) defined by a panel portion (14) formed of a first material and sealing portions (16, 22) integral with the panel portion (14) and formed of a second material having different property characteristics than the first material. The panel portion (14) has an outer periphery (20) and a plurality of openings (12). The sealing portion (16) provides a seal around the members (18) received in the openings (12). The sealing portion (22) is defined around the periphery (20) to seal the firewall (10) when installed. The method for manufacturing the component comprises the steps of injecting the first material into a first cavity of a mold to form the panel portion (14), altering the mold cavity to form a second cavity and injecting the second material into the second cavity while the first material is in a reactive state to form the sealing portions (16, 22) of the component (10). Because the first material is in the reactive state, the second material is integrally formed with the first material.
