Abstract of the Disclosure IMPROVED CONTINUOUS EMULSION POLYMERIZATION PROCESS This invention relates to an improved continuous emulsion polymerization process. Specifically, this invention relates to an improved method for producing carboxylated styrene/butadiene latices. The improve- ment is characterized in that a reaction mixture con- taining specified reaction ingredients and only a portion of the primary monomers is charged to a first reaction zone followed by subsequent injection of the remaining portion of the primary monomers to the following reaction zone in a chain consisting of two or more reactors. The latices produced by the process of this invention have improved stability during polymerization and improved physical and appli- cation properties.
