Abstract of the Disclosure This invention relates to a multicell lead storage battery with electrode stacks formed of zig-zag packages of strip electrodes with an inter- posed separator. The stacks are inserted through side openings into the cells, and the block casing is closed by welding on a side wall. The battery of this invention lends itself more to continuous production techniques than known batteries do where grid plates have to be cast, pasted, subjected to tank forming and inserted to the block casing.
