ABSTRACT There is disclosed a family of alkali-free, lead silicate glasses having properties that make them particularly suitable for use in producing perforated plates for such applications as multichannel plates. In addition to lead oxide and silica, the glasses contain ZnO, BaO, CaO and, under certain circumstances, MgO.
