A method and apparatus for simultaneously controlling two coordinate systems or applications program screen areas is effected by moving a mouse body on a work surface to control one coordinate system or screen area while independently operating a thumb actuated input device on the mouse body to control another coordinate system or screen area. The mouse housing is designed to facilitate control of each coordinate system without affecting control of the other system.
