The invention concerns a multielement contact ultrasonic comprising means (16 to 24, 56 to 60) for determining the respective positions of elements transmitting ultrasounds (6) relative to an object to be controlled (8) during the displacement of the transducer. Means (62) generate driving current pulses, establish, at various predetermined positions, delay laws enabling the transmitting elements to generate a focused ultrasound beam (F) and apply said laws to the driving current pulses. The elements receiving ultrasounds supply signals for forming images concerning the object. The invention is applicable in medicine and non-destructive testing.
Ce transducteur comprend des moyens (16 à 24, 56 à 60) de détermination des positions re-spectives des éléments émetteurs d'ultrasons (6) par rapport à un objet à contrôler (8) au cours du déplacement du transducteur. Des moyens (62) engendrent des impulsions d'excitation des éléments émetteurs, établissent, à partir des po-sitions déterminées, des lois de retard permettant aux éléments émetteurs d'engendrer un faisceau ultrasonore focalisé (F) et appliquent ces lois aux impulsions d'excitation. Les éléments récepteurs d'ultrasons fournissent des signaux permettant la formation d'images relatives à l'objet. Application à la médecine et au contrôle non destructif.
