The invention relates to an aiming device (1) consisting of an aiming unit containing a semiconductor laser for sighting a target (14) by means of a laser beam (11) emitted by the semiconductor laser, and of an identification unit, which, by means of the laser beam (11), interrogates the target (14) for identification information. The aiming device (1) furthermore contains an illuminating unit which makes it possible to illuminate the target (14) by means of the laser beam (11). The semiconductor laser is employed for the aiming unit, the identification unit as well as the illuminating unit.
