ABSTRACT A pin for a fastener of the pin and swaged sleeve type which has a head and a shank. The shank has a plurality of combination locking and break-neck grooves with each groove having first and second sidewalls and arranged to provide a cross-section of approximately V-shape. The total angle included between the first and second sidewalls of each groove is less than the total angle included between the first and second sidewalls of each groove which is closer to the head. This arrangement of grooves assists in ensuring that, when the sleeve has been fully swaged into the grooves and the tail of the pin is pulled, that the groove which is at the outer end of the swaged sleeve acts as a breaker groove. This overcomes the problem in the prior art where it was not possible to predict which groove would act as the breaker groove.
