A multilayered fuel tank (10) for a motor vehicle is disclosed having a fuel tank body (32) for holding liquid and vapour fuel comprising a bottom wall (46), side walls (45) and a top wall and a plurality of fuel tank components (35) located on the top wall and seams (37) located on the side walls. A tank cover (36) is connected to the fuel tank body to define a vapour collection chamber (34). The tank cover encapsulates the top wall and the fuel tank components and seams thereby trapping any fuel vapours that may escape from the tank body, the fuel tank components and the seams. Also disclosed is a method of making the multilayered fuel tank and a method of preventing fuel vapours from escaping from a fuel tank to the environment.
L'invention concerne un réservoir (10) de carburant multicouche conçu pour un véhicule à moteur et possédant un corps (32) de réservoir servant à contenir le carburant liquide et vaporisé et comprenant une paroi inférieure (46), des parois latérales (45), une paroi supérieure et une pluralité d'éléments (35) de réservoir placés sur la paroi supérieure, ainsi que des joints (37) situés sur les parois latérales. Un couvercle (36) est accouplé au corps du réservoir, de manière à définir une chambre (34) servant à recueillir les vapeurs de carburant. Ce couvercle recouvre la paroi supérieure, les éléments du réservoir et les joints, ce qui permet de piéger tout carburant sous forme de vapeur s'échappant du corps, des éléments du réservoir et des joints. Elle concerne également un procédé de fabrication de ce réservoir et un procédé empêchant les vapeurs de carburant de s'échapper vers l'environnement.
