A thermoplastic film comprising a core layer comprising about 60 wt% to about 95 wt% of a polylactic acid having a D-lactic acid level from about 1 mol% to about 8 mol%, and about 5 wt% to about 40 wt% of a toughening additive, wherein the core layer comprises the interior of the film.
