ABSTRACT A multiphase core//shell polymer comprising a crosslinked elastomer core and a rigid thermoplastic polymer shell comprising a mono alkyl maleate or fuma- rate, styrene and optionally a monomer selected from the group consisting of C1 to C8 alkyl acrylates and meth- acrylates, acrylonitril? and methacrylonitrile. The core has an average particle diameter in the range of about 0.3 to about 0.8 micron and the rigid shell has a thick- ness of at least about .025 micron. The multiphase core//shell polymers are useful for blending with poly- amides to provided toughened polyamide compositions.
