2120923 9307958 PCTABS00021 A hollow-fiber membrane fluid-separation apparatus containing a plurality of hollow-fiber bundles (20, 21) is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a single-pressure container (22) with a center chamber (64) located in between facing ends (70, 71) of each bundle (20, 21). The center chamber (64) is in communication with an annular space (61) around adjacent bundles and a discharge tube (76) concentrically housed within a feed tube (36). The hollow-fiber membrane fluid separation apparatus is adapted for industrial performance with high volumetric efficiency and high solute rejection. A process for separation of fluids is also provided.
