A progressing cavity stator and a method for fabricating such a stator are disclosed. The progressing cavity stator includes first and second elastomer layers fabricated from corresponding first and second elastomer materials. The first and second elastomer materials are selected to have at least one distinct material property. Exemplary embodiments of this invention may reduce tradeoffs associated with elastomer material selection and may further address the heat build up and subsequent elastomer breakdown in the lobes of prior art stators.

On présente un stator à cavité progressive ainsi qu'une méthode permettant de fabriquer un tel stator. Ce stator comporte une couche primaire et une couche secondaire d'élastomères, fabriquées avec une première et une seconde matière élastomère, respectivement. Les deux matières ont été choisies de manière à avoir au moins une propriété distincte. Certains exemples d'applications de cette invention pourraient permettre de limiter les compromis à faire dans le choix des élastomères et contribuer à résoudre le problème de l'accumulation de chaleur et de la rupture subséquente des élastomères dans les lobes des stators des générations précédentes.
