A thrust bearing having a radial taper in its top (land) surface provides improved load distribution when used in high-pressure positive displacement swashplate piston pumps. The thrust bearing includes a plurality of grooves in its land surface which carry and distribute fluid on the top surface during operation of the pump. The fluid is distributed so as to form a hydrodynamic fluid buffer between the thrust bearing and an adjacent pump cam surface, so that the thickness of the fluid buffer is larger in radial regions corresponding to regions of increased load and stress.

L'invention concerne un palier de butée dont la surface supérieure (ou surface d'appui) présente un effilement radial, ce palier de butée permettant une répartition améliorée de la charge lorsqu'il est utilisé dans des pompes volumétriques à piston à plateau oscillant haute pression. La surface d'appui de ce palier de butée présente par ailleurs plusieurs renfoncements, destinés à contenir et à répartir le fluide sur la surface supérieure de ce palier lorsque la pompe est en marche. Le fluide est donc réparti de manière à former un tampon fluide hydrodynamique entre ledit palier de butée et une surface à cames adjacente de la pompe, de sorte que l'épaisseur de ce tampon fluide est plus importante dans les zones radiales correspondant aux zones soumises à une charge et à une contrainte élevées.
