An absorbent article is provided including a fluid permeable body facing surface and an absorbent core having a body facing side. An absorbent pledget is adhered to the body facing side of the absorbent core and is disposed between the absorbent core and the body facing surface. The pledget has a greater structural stiffness and a reduced surface area relative to the absorbent core. The pledget is confirgured to fit a human anatomy. In another alternate embodiment, the absorbent article has a fluid permeable coverstock configured to engage a body surface and defining longitudinal sides. The coverstock includes a bi-component fiber having a polypropylene inner core and a polyethylene outer sheath. An absorbent core of the absorbent article has a body facing side, an opposing side and extends longitudinally along the absorbent article. The absorbent core has arcuate outer ends and includes wood pulp and superabsorbent polymer materials. An hourglass shaped absorbent pledget is disposed between the absorbent core and the coverstock. The pledget includes airlaid material adhered to the body facing side of the absorbent core. The pledget further includes a three dimensional apertures acquisition film mounted to the airlaid material which engages the coverstock. The pledget has a greater structural stiffness and reduced surface area relative to the absorbent core. The absorbent core is configured to fold about the hourglass shape of the pledget and resist undesired deformity of the absorbent article. The coverstock includes adhesive coated elastic members disposed adjacent the longitudinal sides. The longitudinal sides are folded about a polylaminate backsheet to enclose the absorbent core and pledget.

L'invention porte sur un article absorbant comportant une surface perméable aux fluides faisant face au corps du porteur, et un coeur présentant un côté faisant face au corps du porteur. Un tampon absorbant placé entre le coeur et ladite surface adhère au côté du coeur faisant face au corps du porteur. Le tampon, qui présente une plus grande rigidité structurelle et une surface moindre que le coeur, est configuré pour s'adapter à l'anatomie humaine. Dans une variante, l'article absorbant comporte une natte de couverture perméable aux fluides et configurée pour entrer en contact avec une surface du corps et présentant des côtés longitudinaux; ladite natte, faite de fibres à deux composants, comprend un coeur de polypropylène et une gaine de polyéthylène. Le coeur absorbant de l'article, qui présente un côté faisant face au corps du porteur et un côté opposé, s'étend longitudinalement le long de l'article absorbant. Ledit coeur, dont les bords extérieurs sont recourbés, contient de la pulpe de bois et des polymères superabsorbants. Un tampon absorbant en forme de sablier est placé entre le coeur absorbant et la natte contient un non tissé air-laid adhérant au côté du coeur faisant face au corps du porteur. Le tampon comporte en outre un film d'acquisition monté sur le non tissé air-laid et en contact avec la natte. Le tampon présente une plus grande rigidité structurelle et une surface moindre que le coeur. Le coeur qui est replié autour de la forme de sablier du tampon résiste aux déformations non souhaitées de l'article absorbant. La natte comprend des éléments élastiques revêtus d'adhésif jouxtant les côtés longitudinaux lesquels sont repliés autour de la couche dorsale de polylaminé de manière à englober le coeur absorbant et le tampon.
