A multiple-piece crosspiece for a track of a tracked vehicle includes a base with vertical through-holes, a tip disposed above the base having a vertical through-hole aligned with each vertical through-hole of the base, and fasteners extending through the vertical through-holes of the base and tip to connect the base and tip. The two-piece construction permits the use of materials having the best physical properties in the most advantageous places. The tip is preferably steel, while the base is preferably extruded aluminum. The fastener may be a bolt and nut, which may also fasten the crosspiece to the track of the tracked vehicle and thereby reduce the number of components. The crosspiece permits easy access to the nut and easy replacement of the tip and/or base. Because the bolt extends vertically, the top of the crosspiece remains narrow.
