MULTIPLE PROCESSOR CONTROL SYSTEM HAVING SHARED MEMORY COMMUNICATION ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A control system of an article processing system, including, a plurality of apparatus for performing one or more functions on an article passed between said apparatus, each of the apparatus having one or more motors and sensors in controlling communication with the control system, comprises a motor controller being programmable and microprocessor based, a sensor controller being programmable and microprocessor based, a random access memory (RAM) in bus communication with said motor controller and said sensor controller. The RAM has a plurality of addressable register regions. The sensor controller is programmed to write to a first register region and read from a second register region. The motor controller is programmed to write to the second register region and read from the first register region.
