2088595 9202835 PCTABS00010 A multiple frequency RF volume resonator is mounted on a dielectric support (40), sufficiently large to permit insertion of a patient's head. The resonator consists of four axially distributed HF ring current paths (59, 56, 58, 60) on dielectric support (40). At least four HF current paths (52, 50, 54) interconnect each pair of adjacent ring paths (59, 56, 58, 60). The ring segments with interconnecting segments form loops. At least one discrete capacitor e.g. (62, 66, 64) is placed in each current loop.
