An arrangement and method in a telecommunication network for providing a called party with multiple real-time options for responding to an incoming call. A called-party user terminal (23) receives the incoming call from a calling party (21 ) and notifies the called party. A user terminal client (68) provides the called party with a pluraiity of response options and receives a selected response from the called party. The user terminal client (68) sends the selected response to a network server (14), which implements the selected response and sends it to the calling party. The called party may send predefined responses such as tunes or symbols, or may record and send reai-time voice or video bursts.
