Abstract of the Disclosure A plurality of spark plugs are disposed within a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine wherein a relatively large amount of the exhaust gases of the engine is recirculated into the combustion chamber of the engine. Each of the spark plugs has a spark plug gap ranging from 1.1 to 2.5 mm and is arranged to generate a spark energy ranging from 40 to 120 mj in order to effectively ignite the air-fuel mixture containing considerably high rate of inert gases mainly dependent on the recirculated exhaust gases. - 1 -
