-18- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A multiple speed ratio transmission for use in the driveline of an automotive vehicle includes a hydrokinetic torque converter and three interconnected planetary gear units, several one-way clutches and brakes, friction clutches and friction brakes. The engaged and release state of the friction elements permits the transmission to produce several underdrive speed ratios, a direct drive ratio, an overdrive ratio and reverse drive.
