An improved multipoint latch assembly is provided for locking a sliding door or the like at multiple positions along a door side edge. The latch assembly comprises a plurality of preferably identical latch cartridges mounted within a stile at spaced positions along the door side edge, with each latch cartridge including a latch member movable between a retracted position and an extended latching position in response to rotation of a drive hub. Each drive hub additionally displaces a drive pin seated within a notch in a connector bracket mounted within the stile to interconnect the latch cartridges. Accordingly, rotation of the drive hub associated with one of the latch cartridges, as by use of a key or thumbturn, is transmitted by the connector bracket to correspondingly rotate the drive hubs of the other latch cartridge or cartridges, whereby the latch members are moved together between the retracted and extended positions. In the preferred form, the connector bracket is constructed in segments to include drive members of metal or the like engaged with the latch cartridge drive pins, and interconnected by connector links of a low cost plastic material or the like which can be cut to a custom length in order to permit latch cartridge installation at custom mounting positions.
