MULTISTAGE REGENERATION OF SPENT CATALYST Abstract of the Disclosure A multistage process for regenerating spent catalyst which includes converting coke, coke precursors or high molecular weight residues on the catalyst to carbon oxides and water in an upper regeneration zone to provide a partially regenerated catalyst and then converting the residual coke on the partially regenerated catalyst to carbon oxides in a lower regeneration zone to yield a regenerated catalyst with less than 0.2% coke with a minimum heat release in regenerating system, and apparatus therefore are provided.
