It is intended to provide a mutant interferon .alpha. protein having elevated antiviral and antitumor effects and a drug for sensitive diseases containing the same as the active ingredient. This problem is solved by providing a mutant protein having an amino acid sequence derived from an amino acid sequence of human interferon .alpha. subtype .alpha.8 represented by any one of SEQ ID NOS:1 to 3 by the substitution of the arginine residue at the 145- position by a leucine residue, an isoleucine residue or a valine residue, the substitution of the alanine residue at the 146-position by an asparagine residue or a serine residue and the substitution of the methionine residue at the 149-position by a tyrosine residue and a drug for sensitive diseases containing the same as the active ingredient.

Cette invention vise à fournir une protéine mutante d~interféron .alpha. ayant des effets antiviraux et antitumoraux élevés et un médicament pour les troubles sensibles contenant cette même protéine en tant que substance active. Ce problème est résolu en fournissant une protéine mutante possédant une séquence d~acide aminé dérivée de la séquence d~acide aminé d~un interféron .alpha. humain de sous-type .alpha. 8 représenté par l~un quelconque des numéros d~identification de 1 à 3 en remplaçant le résidu arginine en position 145 par un résidu leucine, un résidu isoleucine ou un résidu valine, en remplaçant le résidu alanine en position 146 par un résidu asparagine ou un résidu sérine et en remplaçant le résidu méthionine en position 149 par un résidu tyrosine.
