La présente invention concerne une molécule dacide nucléique codant pour une forme mutante du facteur dinitiation de traduction du type sauvage eIF4E qui présente une séquence dacides aminés de SEQ ID No 1. La forme mutante confère à la pomme de terre une résistance aux virus et présente une mutation par rapport à la séquence dacides aminés du type sauvage de SEQ ID No 1 choisie dans le groupe constitué par : (1) une quelconque parmi I70N, I70E, L82R et Dl 12N et (2) une quelconque ou plusieurs parmi L48F, S68K, A77D et M109I. Linvention concerne également des constructions dacide nucléique, des vecteurs dexpression, des cellules, des plantes et des graines contenant la molécule dacide nucléique de la présente invention, ainsi que des procédés pour conférer aux plantes une résistance aux virus.
