ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A muting circuit which mutes noises generated instantaneously whilst turning off the power, or noises of null data generated by the data distorted by an external or internal influence. The muting circuit in a digital audio system mutes interfering beat noises which are generated by pop noises during the process of muting. The beat noises are generated because of data distored by the pop noises during the turning off of the system power or by an external source. A preferred embodiment includes a digital signal processor (DSP), a first latch, a second latch, a comparator, an address encoder, a counter, a memory, a divider, a multiplier, and a first switching circuit.
