ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A mutual injection locking system and method is provided for locking at least two coherent light sources to a same operating frequency f1 and narrowing their linewidth for producing at least one output coherent light beam. The system comprises an optical device with a resonant frequency equal to the frequency f1. The optical device has: a resonator of resonant frequency f1 comprising a facultative nonlinear optical material; first optical means for inputting the input light beams generated by the sources into the resonator; second optical means for outputting from the resonator the effective output light beam or beams as a result of the input light beams; and third optical means for outputting from the resonator locking coherent light beams having a narrow linewidth and a frequency equal to the frequency f1, to be injected respectively into the sources to be locked in a way that each of the sources to be locked can receive one of the locking light beams that is derived from at least another one of the sources. Thereby, the locking light beams can lock the sources to the same operating frequency f1 and narrow their linewidth in order to produce the output light beam or beams.
