ABSTRACT This invention relates to novel substituted forma- midines, which are useful for protecting materials against the degradative effects of ultraviolet light. The novel compounds are represented by the formula Image I wherein R1 a C1-5-alkyl radical, R2 is a C1-9- alkyl radical or phenyl, A is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, carboalkoxy or dimethylamino; D is hydrogen, methoxy or chlorine, E is hydrogen, hydroxy, alkoxy or chlorine.
