Compounds of the formula (I) provide pharmacological agents which bind to Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptors (PPARs). Accordingly, the compounds of the instant invention are useful for the treatment of conditions mediated by the PPAR receptor activity in mammals. Such conditions include dyslipidemia, hyperlipidemia, hypercholesteremia, atherosclerosis, hypertriglyceridemia, heart failure, myocardial infarction, vascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, obesity, inflammation, arthritis, cancer, Alzheimer~s disease, skin disorders, respiratory diseases, ophthalmic disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis, Crohn~s disease, and conditions in which impaired glucose tolerance, hyperglycemia and insulin resistance are implicated, such as type-1 and type-2 diabetes, and Syndrome X.

L'invention concerne des composés de formule (I) mettant en place des agents pharmacologiques se liant aux récepteurs activés par les proliférateurs de peroxysomes (PPAR). Par conséquent, les composés selon l'invention sont utiles dans le traitement d'états induits par l'activité des récepteurs PPAR chez les mammifères. On peut citer parmi de tels états la dyslipidémie, l'hyperlipidémie, l'hypercholestérolémie, l'athérosclérose, l'hypertriglyceridémie, l'insuffisance cardiaque, l'infarctus du myocarde, des maladies vasculaires, des maladies cardio-vasculaires, l'hypertension, l'obésité, des inflammations, l'arthrite, le cancer, la maladie d'Alzheimer, des troubles dermatologiques, des maladies respiratoires, des troubles ophtalmiques, des maladies intestinales inflammatoires, la recto-colite hémorragique, la maladie de Crohn et des états dans lesquels une diminution de la tolérance au glucose, l'hyperglycémie et la résistance à l'insuline sont impliquées, tels que les diabètes des types 1 et 2 et l'angine microvasculaire.
