ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to ne N-diazolylalkyl-halogenoacet- anilides of the general formula Image (I) in which A represents oxygen or sulphur, R1 represents hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy, R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, R3 represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen, R4 represents hydrogen or alkyl, X represents hydrogen, alkyl, halogen, alkoxy, alkylthio, halogenoalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxycarbonyl, dialkylamino, cyano, phenyl, phenoxy or phenylthio and Z represents halogen, and in which the diazolyl radical is bonded via a carbon atom, and acid addition salts thereof, to processes for the preparation of the novel compounds as well as to their use as herbicides.
