L'invention concerne la préparation en continu du bromure de n.perfluorooctyle. Le procédé selon l'invention consiste à faire réagir du brome et l'hydrogéno-1 heptadécafluoro n.octane en phase gazeuse, à une température comprise entre 450 et 520°C, dans un rapport molaire Br2/C8F17H pouvant aller de 0,2 à 5 et avec un temps de contact compris entre 2 et 240 secondes. La sélectivité en C8F17Br est quasi-totale et l'on évite la formation de sous- produits toxiques comme le perfluoroisobutylène.
