N-Phenyl-N'-phenylpropylpiperazine derivatives represented by general formula (1) (wherein R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is lower alkoxy; and R3 is cyano, carboxyl or indolecarbonyl); drugs containing the same; and a process for the preparation thereof. The compounds exhibit potent .alpha.1-adrenergic receptor blocking activity and are useful in the prevention and treatment of hypertension, congestive heart failure, myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia, angina pectoris, urinary disturbance and frequent urination due to prostatic hypertrophy, and so on.
La présente invention concerne des dérivés de N-phényle-N'-phénylpropilpipérazine représentés par la formule générale (1) dans laquelle R?1¿ est un alkyle inférieur; R?2¿ est un alkoxy inférieur; et R?3¿ est cyano, carboxyle ou indolecarboxyle. L'invention concerne également des médicaments renfermant ces composés. Ces composés exercent une puissante activité de blocage du récepteur .alpha.-adrénergique et conviennent pour la prévention et le traitement de divers troubles tels que hypertension, insuffisance cardiaque globale, ischémie myocardique, arythmie, angine de poitrine, troubles urinaires ou pollakiurie due à une hypertrophie de la prostate. .
